Part 1-Be content in any situation.

Philippians 4:10-13.

10 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last, you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (NIV)

Dearly beloved brethren, in this series we will be looking at the relationship between faith and finance in the kingdom. Today let us examine the concept of being content in any situation we find ourselves.

Apostle Paul in the above scripture admonishes us ‘to be content in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. The truth of the matter is that God knows our needs and He is able to meet and surpass those needs according to Ephesians 3:20   ‘Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.’(NIV)

Contentment is the state of happiness and satisfaction. God desires that we be in this state always. Philippians 4:4 says ‘Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!’(NIV). We see also that Faith is complete trust or confidence in God. Hebrews 11:1 says ‘Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.’(NIV).

I have learned over my years of walking with God that contentment is a kingdom tool that God uses to test and promote us. Many years ago God asked me to go to the city I live currently even though I knew no one. I simply obeyed and packed my belongings into the one traveling bag I had at that time and set out. One thing I was sure of is that if God had asked me to go, I was content that he will take care of that which concerns me. My testimony today is I have seen God move on my behalf on many levels in the journey so far. Brethren, true contentment comes from accepting Christ and having faith that in Him you will be fine and have everything you need. Christ is sufficient, and His promises are enough to see us through any situation or circumstances.

How do I become contented?

1. Learn how to be content in need or in plenty.

2. Seek God’s Kingdom First.

Mathew 6:33 ‘But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.’(NIV)

3. Our discontent is rooted in our selfish desires or sinful desire to control every circumstance.

1 John 2:16’ For everything in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. (NIV)

4. Obedience to God’s Word.

Exodus 19:5 ‘Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine,(NIV)

 5. Righteousness.

Psalms 92:12 ‘The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

Are you in a situation where you are believing God for breakthroughs in your finances, you need to begin to thank God and be content with where you are right now! God is about turning your situation around if only you can trust him to see you through. Hebrews 13; 5-7(NIV)

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”[a]

So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Prayer:

Pray with me say ‘Father. In the name of Jesus, I receive the Grace to be contented with where my life is right now while believing you to bless the works of my hands and move me to the next higher level in Jesus’s Mighty Name. Amen!
